Aang and Appa

Aang is the latest in a long succession of Avatars, powerful benders who exist to maintain balance among the Four Nations as well as between the Spirit and Natural Worlds.  Due to an accident, however, he was frozen in an iceberg for nearly a hundred years, during which the Fire Nation has gone on a campaign of world domination.  He emerges from this slumber already a Master Airbender, and his journey to master the other three is a main focus of the series.  He is accompanied by his sky bison, Appa, a fiercely loyal and immensely strong animal companion.  Here's a case where I'm making an exception to the HP/Def for Appa in order to make it more "conventional." Otherwise, he'd have something around 25-30 HP with little to no defense, as he's huge (easy to hit) but can take a lot of punishment. To keep the HP total between Aang and Appa down, however, his HP are reduced and he has some "extra" defense that is representative of his bulk, not his ability to avoid an attack.

Aang
HP: 16, Avatar

x2 Earth Armor D4: If Aang takes damage from this attack, all characters adjacent to Aang also receive an equal amount of damage.
x2 Sun's Eternal Flame A7: After attacking, you may discard a card to draw a card.
x2 Tidal Wave A5: After attacking, move all enemy characters up to 3 spaces each.
x2 Air Scooter Special: Move Aang up to 8 spaces. All opposing players must discard a card at random.
x1 Avatar State Reveal your hand. You may search your draw pile and discard pile for Earth Armor, Air Scooter, Tidal Wave, and Sun's Eternal Flame and place one of each in your hand that you do not already have. Then shuffle your discard pile into your draw pile.

Appa
HP 12, strong melee

x1 Tail Swipe A7: After attacking, move the target of Tail Swipe to any empty space.
x2 Aerial Retreat: Special: Move Appa to any open space; move Aang to any open space adjacent to Appa.

Re: Aang and Appa

I know it probably irked you to drop cards dealing with Aang's position as Link to the Spirit World, but I think the deck turned out better for it.

I love the effect of Avatar State.

Re: Aang and Appa

I'd like to say that Aang turned out to be everything I wanted as the all-powerful Avatar, but he's really not.  I actually consider this one of the less awesome decks in the set, partly because it was impossible to incorporate everything about Aang into an ED deck, partly because it includes a melee minor, and partly because it just lacks the "Yay-uh!" feel when playing it.
